Overall Room Condition Impressions
The cabin is beginning to look "tired". But, it still appeared to be clean
Would You Book This Same Cabin Again?
No way. I was counting the days until we could leave this cabin.
Noise In Cabin
You could hear a good deal of noise, it was mostly tolerable
If the ship is in heavy seas there is a great deal of engine vibration and noise in the cabin.
Cabin Odor
A very strong, unpleasant odor persisted throughout the cruise.
Just be aware that if the wind is the wrong direction or if you are in heavy seas the diesel fumes from the engine will be sucked onto the balcony and into your room if you are not very careful. It also made the balcony unusable for half of the trip.
Temperature Control in Cabin
Why did they even bother putting a thermostat in the cabin -- it didn't work
This was a very warm Panama cruise--could not get temperature in room below 75 degrees even with visits from the ship's engineer. He said that was the best they could do.
WiFi Signal Strength in Cabin 7000
The WiFi signal strength was OK
Lighting
The lighting was terrible
Lighting in the bathroom was good--unfortunately the lighting around the desk (where most women will put on their make-up) was abysmal. It was lit from above with bad fluorescent lighting that made it hard to see to apply make-up or to work at the desk.
Bathroom Condition
The bathroom is beginning to look "tired". But, it still appeared to be clean
View From The Cabin
The view was partially obstructed
The balcony is a nice size, but because it's aft you lose ~half of the view to the solid barrier which covers the bottom half of the balcony. Also, beware of strong diesel fumes.
Drawers, Clothes and Luggage Storage
Excellent. I was able to find a place for everything in the drawers and closet. I didn't have to leave anything in my suitcase
Technology, Comfort & Convenience
Needs serious improvement. Undersized flat panel TV and no iPod dock
Lounging Space
Very Good. Chair or a couch with a coffee or side table
Your Comments & Observations (OPTIONAL QUESTION)
We are veteran cruisers and have never had trouble with seasickness before--but also had the wisdom not to select cabins in the back. With the opportunity for the larger balcony and what we hoped to be beautiful views we selected this room. Bad choice for several reasons: 1. Strong diesel fumes were sucked down onto the balcony and into the room 2. View was obstructed by solid balcony (instead of glass or bars) 3. Wave motion was magnified significantly during high seas, and the sound of the ship hitting 12-17 foot swells would wake us up at night 4. Balcony sliding glass door wouldn't stay closed if you were on the balcony in any kind of seas--had to bring a loaded bag out to brace the door open so it wouldn't slam open and shut periodically 5. Balcony windows were never cleaned nor was the furniture which was tough with spots of diesel fuel on them
