Overall Room Condition Impressions
There is a little bit of wear and tear, but, it is in generally good shape
Would You Book This Same Cabin Again?
Absolutely! It's a great cabin.
Noise In Cabin
A little noise in the cabin -- you didn't notice it if you were not paying attention
You will always hear ship noise/vibration wherever you are. We had a quiet family on our left - not sure what it would be like if you had a noisy partying bunch in adjoining cabin (though this comment applies whichever cabin you get)
No noticable Odors
Temperature Control in Cabin
The temperature controls were VERY effective and you could easily maintain temperature
WiFi Signal Strength in Cabin 1688
Have you seen what the cruise line charges for WiFi? I can't afford that... (I didn't test it...)
The lighting was good -- nothing extraordinary
I did find the lighting around the vanity table to be strong. Great in the bathroom. Was good to be able to have the two level individual controls over the beds.
There is a little bit of wear and tear on the bathroom, but, it didn't feel dirty
View From The Cabin
Amazing view - I loved looking at the view every day
Drawers, Clothes and Luggage Storage
Excellent. I was able to find a place for everything in the drawers and closet. I didn't have to leave anything in my suitcase
Technology, Comfort & Convenience
Needs serious improvement. Undersized flat panel TV and no iPod dock
Excellent. Combination of chair(s), couch and coffee or side table. Everyone could find a seat
Your Comments & Observations (OPTIONAL QUESTION)
We loved our cruise. The cabin was very spacious and we would certainly look to book this or similar again because of the space (larger than a lot of hotels we have stayed in over the years); and of course as we had the benefit of great views from the balcony. Would very easily accommodate a family of 4 and still have room to move around. We loved the fact that this cabin also had a very spacious balcony (large enough that it fitted 2 lounging chairs and low table plus 2 chairs and table and still had room). Only downside is that you have to be aware of the direction that the ship smoke is blowing, especially when arriving/leaving ports as we frequently had to wipe down, or ask for deck furniture to be wiped down, to remove the black oily soot - the unused oil discharged by the engine. The oil can be hard to remove from light clothing if you can't treat it properly to start with (learnt the hard way on day 1). The cabin was a little distance from the lifts, but this was not a problem for us, as it meant exercise and also distance from noise near elevators etc. The cabin was under the Windjammer restaurant, but we never heard any noise from there. The cabin has 2 X USA power outlets and 1 X European power outlet. There was a mid-size tv that churned out a lot of up-selling of RCI products, and had channels covering sport, business, and shows in a variety of languages but only one in English! (The outside movie screen was impractical for the NZ cruise as the nights were either too cold or wet, and there was no option to watch anything on tv while resting- if one had the time to rest/watch anything) There is a small kettle and tea making facilities available in the cabin. There was a lot of storage space/hangers and cabin steward was extremely obliging with providing extra towels, glasses etc. Laundry was very expensive on the ship. You either need to take enough main clothes for the trip and wash the stalls as you go, or try and find laundromats in port - and who wants to watch washing instead of sightseeing!
