Cruise Date:12/5/2015
Review Submitted:12/26/2015
Passengers in Cabin:3 Passengers
Past Cruise Experience:2-5 Cruises
Cruise Length:11-20 Days
Overall Room Condition Impressions There is a little bit of wear and tear, but, it is in generally good shape
Would You Book This Same Cabin Again? Its Not a Bad Cabin -- I would be open to trying a different cabin, however.
Noise In Cabin No Noise -- Very Quiet Cabin
Cabin Odor No noticable Odors
Temperature Control in Cabin The temperature controls were VERY effective and you could easily maintain temperature
WiFi Signal Strength in Cabin 1692 I'm on vacation -- the last thing I want to do is connect to WiFi. (I didn't test it…)
Lighting The lighting was good -- nothing extraordinary
Bathroom Condition The bathroom is beginning to look "tired". But, it still appeared to be clean
View From The Cabin Amazing view - I loved looking at the view every day
Drawers, Clothes and Luggage Storage Excellent. I was able to find a place for everything in the drawers and closet. I didn't have to leave anything in my suitcase
Technology, Comfort & Convenience Good. Appropriately sized, flat-panel TV and Ipod dock
Lounging Space Needs more sitting room. Only a chair and no coffee or side table
Your Comments & Observations (OPTIONAL QUESTION) We found this cabin to be a larger cabin due to the fact that it is an interconnecting cabin. Being at the AFT of the ship the balcony is larger than normal. We were on deck 10, so right above us was the "Windjammer Marketplace" (buffet)- but found no noise from that very quiet room. The room, however, was dirty- needed more cleaning especially the carpets and the back patio needed a good clean. The impression we had was that in between cruises there is not enough time for the cabin steward to properly clean and looks like it had not had a thorough cleaning in a long time. I did see each day a vacuum cleaner in the hall way, but perhaps it was not working properly as our carpet looked each day like it had not been done. Slight rubbish still there from day one when we walked into the room. The cabin steward, however, was very nice and friendly. I can't vouch for inside cabins as I've never stayed in one and never would. For us, we like the idea of having a balcony with fresh air if we need it. The ship is an old ship; we have cruised on her in March this year and she was very clean and staff were cleaning the lifts etc. everywhere thoroughly all the time. This time round in December of the same year (2015), it seemed to lack the cleanliness it did in March and lacked the number of people cleaning around the ship. The beds in the cabin are rock hard and I mean rock hard. We had confirmed before we left with our travel agent that we had ordered a "Egg Crate mattress topper", as we knew from before on this ship that the mattress is as hard as nails. When we arrived in the cabin there was not any on the bed or on the couch bed that my mother was sleeping on. We asked for them and were told none were left! I have osteoarthritis in both my hips so the bed was not comfortable at all to sleep on. Once I did finally get to sleep, I slept all night but it took ages to do so. The size of the ship is great (WE love the larger ships- more to do and experience than the smaller ones), but next time we will cruise on a newer more modern ship that should hopefully be cleaner. No cruising on old ships for us ever again. The service was exceptional- could not be faulted in all places on the ships and the food was outstanding, so no complaints there. Just a softer bed and a cleaner ship and cabin would have made our trip much better. Paula :)
